Since 2011, Pierre-Edouard Portier is associate professor at INSA Lyon (France) Computer Science & Information Technologies (CS&IT) department.

His research addresses topics in the fields of machine learning and soft computing techniques applied to big data analytics (e.g., anomaly detection, XAI for crash prediction, traffic forecasting...), natural language processing (e.g., relation extraction, knowledge graph completion...), semantic web search and document engineering. His research interest lies in the discovery, modeling, and representation of knowledge to be integrated into a data analytics process.
